Frequently Asked Questions

Following are several questions we are often asked about hosting a successful magic show at a birthday party. If you still have any unanswered questions after reading through this information, please feel free to contact FitzMagic by phone 602-820-6202 or by E-mail info@onefreetrick.com

Question
When should I book my entertainment?

Answer
Ideally you should book entertainment as soon as you know the date of your party. Most performers can only perform a few shows in a day, and some times we are booked months in advance. If you really want a specific entertainer you may need to move your party time or even day. It is always wise to plan ahead.

Question
When should I schedule the magic show during my party?

Answer
Ideally, the magic show should start a half hour after the party begins. This will allow any late guests a little more time to arrive at the party. In addition, the children will have time to see each other and become somewhat acquainted, allowing them to enjoy the magic show even more.

Question
Do you have any suggestions on how to plan a party?

Answer
FitzMagic recommends planning the party ahead of time. Come up with a basic outline so you can relax and enjoy the event when the time comes. The party should begin by allowing the children thirty minutes to arrive and play. Thirty minutes into the party the magician will start the show! Following the show plans should be made for the children to have lunch or cake. This will allow the performer some time to pack up his show. Games may then be palyed by the children in order that they may burn some of that energy the cake will provide. Finally, presents may be opened, allowing everyone a time to calm down before the end of an enjoyable birthday party.

Question
Can I videotape your magic show?

Answer
Because this will be a live performance the performer's focus will be on performing for the audience. This means the camera may catch things that the audience will not. We, like most other magicians, do not allow our shows to be videotaped. Exceptions are allowed during the performance which involves the birthday child. At this time it is desireable for the video camera to be rolling and the flash on the camera going off! This is the part of the performance that we want to remain in your memory forever.

Question
Do you have a rabbit?

Answer
Absolutely not! we don’t want to be responsible for a live animal biting or scratching any of your guests. We wouldn’t want a bunny to go to the bathroom on your new carpet, and we would feel bad hauling the little guy around the Valley Of The Sun in a hot vehicle. However, we do use a spring animal that is very realistic. His name is Rocky Raccoon! And he is trained, in addition to appearing, doing fun comedy tricks, disappearing, and reappearing he never has to go to the bathroom. He will never bite and best of all, most of the children believe he is real!

Question
I was thinking we would have the magic show outside, is that okay?

Answer
Being magicians we can perform the impossible, but it is recommend that the show be hosted inside. There are far to many distractions to have a successful magic show outside. You have to consider wind-blowing props over, the sun being in the children’s eyes; antsÅ there are many distractions to think about. One performer in New Jersey was struck by lightning while doing a birthday show in a backyard. (Now that’s dedication!) So to answer your question yes we can perform outside, but the magic show will not be as successful as it would be inside.

Question
Where should the magic show be held? Will you need a table?

Answer
Most of our shows are performed in either the family room, or the living room. Occasionally, it may be necessary to move a chair or couch, but this is usually the best place. Performers prefer to have their back against a wall or fireplace as this will limit any distractions that may happen behind them. As for a table, the performer will bring everything needed to put on a professional magic show.
